Philosophy

The teaching staff at Hank Haney Golf Academy at Lake of Isles is comprised of some of the finest golf instructors from around the world. These instructors train amateurs and professionals alike in the proven fundamentals that have made Hank one of the game’s top teachers. In 2009, as voted upon by his peers, Golf Digest ranked Hank Haney as one of the Top 3 teachers in the world.

Hank and the instruction team conduct all one-on-one teaching sessions in the year round Academy teaching studios which feature sophisticated digital video analysis. They will work with you on every aspect of the swing to improve power, accuracy and consistency. The short game of chipping, pitching, sand shots and putting is strongly emphasized to help everyone lower their scores. To develop a complete player, all the mental aspects and course management skills are emphasized with every golfer as well.

As a student progresses through their training, Hank and his staff instructs them on how to understand what their swing is doing by analyzing the ball flight which is really the cornerstone to becoming your own best teacher. Each student learns how to practice, how to play the golf course, how to analyze your game to find the areas that need the most improvement, and most importantly how to think and act like a champion.

Derek Hooper - Director of Instruction

Director of Instruction at Lake of Isles since the facility opened in 2005, Derek’s focus is on the development of specialized training programs to encourage players of all ages and skills to enjoy and excel at golf. With 15 years of teaching experience including time as the Director of Instruction at the David Duval Golf Academy in Japan and teaching the Taiwanese Men’s and Women’s National Team, Derek’s experiences have allowed him to develop a very simplistic way to explain the complexities of the golf swing. 

Credentials

• AAA member of the Australian PGA.
• Degree is sports science and teaching methodology from University of Queensland, Australia.
• Titleist Performance Institute Certified Level I Golf Fitness Instructor.
• The Golf Athlete Certified Level I Allied Health Course for Golf.

3D Swing Analysis:

The Golf Biodynamics 3D motion capture system will measure every aspect of your swing including address angles, body rotations in backswing and downswing and your kinetic sequence. You will also complete a biofeedback training session to improve any swing faults during the analysis.
Price: Full Swing (90 minutes) - $195.00

Fit Fore Golf:

This is something that anyone who is serious about improving his or her game should experience. During the two-hour private session you will work closely with your instructor to analyze your golf swing using both the VI computer swing analysis and Golf Biodynamics 3D motion capture systems. Our own Physical Therapist will then give you a thorough physical screening to determine any imbalances or weaknesses in strength, flexibility and balance. All this information will then be collated to prescribe your personal program of swing drills and exercises to ensure you attain your best golf.
Price: Including reassessment at a later date - $370.00

An integral member of the Academy’s teaching staff since the facility opened in 2005, Sue has been teaching golfers of all ages to play better golf for 19 years. Sue’s passion is in introducing women to the game of golf and to helping those already playing to play even better.

Robbie Leming – Director of Golf

Director of Golf at Lake of Isles since 2007, Robbie has over 8 years of experience teaching students of all skill levels. A Class A member of the PGA of America, Robbie taught at the Byron Nelson Golf School for three years and is a Certified Custom Club Fitter with Titleist, Callaway and Ping.
